The Editor's Decision Framework

When an editor reads a pitch, they are subconsciously evaluating five things:

  1. 1.Audience Fit: Does this serve our readers/viewers?
  2. 2.Timeliness: Why does this need to run now (or soon)?
  3. 3.Differentiation: What makes our version different from what is already out there?
  4. 4.Feasibility: Can this reporter actually deliver this story?
  5. 5.Resource Justification: Is the investment of time and money worth the expected impact?

Use AI to stress-test your pitch against all five:
